Ideas in the Making is a project by Ness Donnelly.
The title has two meanings - the first being the starting point of an idea that can be
developed further. The second is to explain the process involved in physically
making the work. The combination of embroidery and drawing illustrates how one
informs the other.
The work uses a variety of processes including, stitch, drawing and punched holes,
to create work which references various folk textiles. Embroidered Samplers, Amish
quilts and South American textiles are of particular interest to me because of their
apparent simplicity and bold use of colour. I am particularly interested in pattern and
how patterns form through serial repetition, creating patterns within patterns.
The current collection can be seen and purchased from the walls of Macaroon
Prices start from £25.00
